Church History

The Foundation of the church is Christ without whom we have no direction.

He is our Rock; a strong and sure foundation to build upon. Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was.

(Matthew 16:15-19) "But who do you say that I am?" Only Peter, of all the apostles answered him correctly. And so Jesus said to him: "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, And upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

 

The founding fathers of Zion Hill embraced the teaching of Christ and followed them faithfully.  Immediately after slavery, our obedient fore-fathers organized our church in the fashion of the bush ministries of the day.  Our history is rich and tells the story of true Christians who built this church on the “rock”, of Jesus and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.  Our history….
